how to write and the importance of captions

The next step in my journey to writing a magazine is learning about captions. I learned that captions are important to copy because it provides a brief description of what could be going on in a picture. When writing a caption, I was told that the first sentence should be short and to the point and that it shouldn't drag on and be boring because it is meant to pull the reader in and be able to have the reader visualize that they are there with the actions in the photo. It should contain things such as the people included in the photo, location, and time. After the first sentence, you can include extra information such as dialogue, or extra information not needed in the first sentence. Most captions can be found under the photos or cartoon.

This is an example of my basic caption, which included only one sentence that includes, who, what, when, and where.
