Importance of headlines
Headlines are one of the most important things in an article or magazine. When readers load your magazine, they will most likely look at the biggest font and shortest sentence next to or on your illustration. Your big headline is called your teaser or primary headline. This is the one the reader will first see. Under the teaser will be the teller or secondary headline. The message of the spread is seen by the dominant photo and supported by your headlines. If your article doesn't have a good illustration or headline, the reader will skip over it and view something else that catches their attention. Some techniques you can use to write your headline are Alliteration, Antonym, Synonym, Homonym, Onomatopoeia, Rhyme, Pun, Oxymoron, Interjection, or Allusion.
I made an example of a Headline. I used a pun about kittens since it matched to illustration.
